Going back to black

Filed under: Bake-a-bake, Clubbing, Just for fun, Nights out, yumyum stuff — by lolapop @ 12:25 am

Felt like i haven’t blogged forever. What was my last entry about ? I think i’ve pretty much enjoyed the one week of break and did almost everything that i wanted to…baked. shopped. had good food. drank. pubbed. clubbed. slacked. BOF-ed. RC-ed. Except K, which will be next week ! Oh and i wanna have another sushi making session !

Tomorrow will be the official start of my internship. Can’t help but feel the pre-work jitters, simply cos i haven’t been ‘working’ for so long. Hope everything goes well.

Anyway, just an update ! Maybe i can blog away my jitters haha. (at the same time i’m wondering how on earth i’m gonna fall asleep at 1am and wake up ard 6am) I’m such a 4am/2pm person. darn.

Yup, i finally, FINALLY got down to baking.

Mini strawberry cheesecakes ! They don’t look that pretty but taste fab ! and ahem ‘experimental’ Mini mocha tarts

Baking is always immensely fun and satisfying. Did it with yee this time round and we headed to timbre in the evening.

Conclusion of the night: Never go to timbre at the substation cos it’s just TOO hot and stuffy. (we had wanted to go to the one at the arts house but it was closed for private event). The pizza is spectacular though, you’ll know when you see the pic. We had roasted duck + buffalo chicken combi.

lalala 031

And of cos, the night wouldn’t be complete without…

lalala 025

Sangria (which i recommend to all my girlfriends without fail)

lalala 026

Fav beer (I still don’t think beer goes well with pizza)

lalala 035

And champagne to round off the night !

timbre2

Met huiqi there ! Having her post-exams celebration with friends :)

timbre3

Too bad we cld only stay for the first set but the surrounding ain’t making us comfortable, so that’s that. But the legendary pizza is indeed worth trying heh.

Met the girls for sakae teppanyaki the next day and the only pic i got was this. haha.

lalala 054

That was the starter salad. I think after that we were all too busy eating and chatting away. It was not bad, but like i forgot who said it, the chef is really, really generous with the oil. He sprinkles it like it’s water.

Headed to iluma after and chilled at coffee bean and did a lil shopping at bugis village after. Everybody’s finally done with exams :)

And friday night…was supposedly a stay-home-and-slack-a-lot day but ended up at double O. last min clubbing. with a dramatic episode.

We had originally planned to sit by the river but the weather is simply unbearable and we NEEDED some aircon. Heh these are reasons, not excuses.

Anyway the night was really fun and we broke our records with 4 tequila shots and 1 jagerbomb each (what with double O and the dirt cheap drinks all night). Feels great to let loose after cramming for the exams (even when i was running a fever).

The drama came when some guys were pushing their luck too far. There was a point when i got really pissed and did something quite unimaginable on hindsight. and very, very unlike me. That of which involved me pushing two guys and asking them to fuck off. They must have been shocked but then backed off soon after. like wow, i amazed myself. Must have been one of my most aggressive moment ever. Some guys just don’t know their limits.

Anyway come saturday and i had my first taste of the really really really x 100 delicious 田鸡粥 at geylang :D Thanks to lei who brought me there, was a great recommendation. I also found the best yogurt ice cream along the way ! It’s called yoguru, be sure to try it if you have a chance. Ahh i seem to be pigging out everywhere lols.

Today marks the last day of ‘freedom’ and i haven’t even decided what to wear/bring to work tomorrow. But i did buy myself a pretty pair of wedges for the first day of work :) I must have more confidence in myself.

Am looking forward to getting more decent shoes though, cos i just cleared out my ’shoedrob’ today. Didn’t quite realise i fancy white shoes so much (I have like 6 pairs which is white based) !

And i have finally decided on what to do with my hair. I’m not going to rebond nor dye it anymore. At least not in the near future. I’m gonna grow my healthy hair out, cont trimming my damaged parts and embrace my waves ! Hahaha…that means i might be going back to black. Back to square one.

Any further investment on my hair will either be treatments or perhaps a few years down the road, a perm ? ;) Gonna make a change to my style.

Ok gotta go bathe so my hair will dry in time for me to turn in early ! Ta~

My new found love

Filed under: Clubbing, Just for fun, Nights out — by lolapop @ 11:26 pm

We met in Dbl O. Spent the first hour of the night together and had to part when it was time. He was really sweet and smells good too.

I think we might have more dates in the future…

children_kiss_by_yuri_yurie1

His name is Hennessy. V.S.O.P., if i may add.

LOLS. hope i got you there. So we clubbed Vdae away in Dbl O. I think i overdosed on my BB cream and foundation so i looked like a ghost haha. And umm clubbing counts as a workout, no ? It was tiring alright. But i had a good night’s sleep. No more weird dreams/nightmares !

Anyway, first time clubbing at Dbl O and it was cute cos they played some really old school songs from like backstreet boys…and was that spice girls ? It’s like the songs we sing along to during primary school !

But according to what i heard from my proj mate, seems like they might be closing down soon. I think people will miss the cheap drinks there. Ok just a short update, hope you guys enjoyed Vdae ! I’m back to churning out some last min work for mon gahhhh.

This post is a tad late but better late than never ! Mainly cos i wasn’t in the mood to blog. Oh yes, trust me you need to have The Mood to blog otherwise the blog entries comes out crappy. much like ranting.

Backtrack a lil to christmas eve, where we spent it in dardardar’s gym ! Hilarious night with vodka ribena raspberry 7-up, logcake, cupcakes, chocolate and cookies. and lots of lots of laughter of course. We had present exchange too, that is — among those who knew there is supposed to be one. Abit lazy to upload the many photos, so shall just post a few nice/funny ones. The rest are up on fb and i have tagged everybody.

pc240379

We also had a game of charades which left everyone tickled. I particularly rmb one where dardardar was jumping ard and ej yelled ‘THAIPUSAM!!’ That was super hilarious, considering our theme for the game was CHRISTMAS. Then we proceed on to zhong ji mi ma to force ppl to finish the food. Heh. That’s what you do after parties to ‘clear up’ the food right.

pc240387

But i think at the end of the day we still had fun. So that’s cheers to christmas !

pc240391

One last ‘mirror’ pic before we call it a night ! If you look closely you’ll notice the treadmill and some exercise equipment in the background. What a Christmas haha. Luckily the security guard was nice enough to allow us to celeb in the gym, otherwise we wld be out in the drizzling rain. But this also mean that nobody got thrown/dragged/pushed into the pool this year. Hmmph. Nvm, there’s always next year ;)

And guess who we ran into while waiting for the bus to the mrt station ? When J shouted ‘Merry christmas !’ we all got a shock…well it was, kind of awkward to say the least. Apparently he was there with his church friends and the whole group of us were preparing to go home after the celeb. But, wadever lar =P

Following that, siewmay was so seh she ended up cabbing home with huimin. Aahhh, need some training from me HAHA. But i guess the rest of us were fine. What’s christmas without alcohol right ?! And poor ej puked on the way back on the train. Err i guess zhong ji mi ma is not a great idea afterall, esp not when one is sick. Sorry ej ! Luckily he’s better after that.

And that was the happening christmas. I think there won’t be anymore alcohol next year. haha.

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

The day after christmas was supposed to be our shopping trip out, but we ended up pub-hopping for the later half. Lei did her fair of shopping while I being the stingy poor one didn’t buy anything at all ! Which is good, i guess.

Dinner was a near 3 hours affair. Lei brought me to try out this really famous japanese store, Wasabi Tei in far east. And guess how long we queued ? We waited and waited AND waited for 1 and a half hr !! Super hungry when we finally got on the precious seats.

Thumbs up for the chawamushi, as for the main i would say it’s not bad but err i don’t think i wld queue up that long for it again. I am v v picky when it comes to food, i guess most of my friends know that by now. But it was worth trying out ! Their appetiser is special and their watermelon served cold and sweet. They have fragrant green tea too. Just don’t go there on an empty stomach. You will FAINT in the queue before you reach the door.

Our original plan was to head to Timbre at the Art house, cos i haven’t been there before and wanted to check out the place. But the weather wasn’t looking good so we settled at The Santuary by Indochine along orchard road. The band was not bad, but wasn’t the kind of music and place we’re looking for.

The BEST thing then, was that i got my first taste of Erdinger. and fell in love with it. It is seriously the nicest beer i have drank to date. I don’t really know how to describe the taste of beer but this one stands out from the rest. It’s kind of light yet not diluted, not overly fizzy, doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste in your mouth and glides down your throat smoothly!  Amazing. This is also the very first time i think i am starting to acquire the taste for beer haha.

And so we left shortly after the drink. and moved on to Timbre ! Now i really love the ambience of this place. Before you reach the place, you can already hear the band’s music drifting along the singapore river. Music by the river makes for such a perfect night. The dim orangy lighting gives off a warm cozy feeling and the lights hanging from the ceiling had a festive feel to them.

It’s an awesome place to chill out over drinks with friends, really. Big group, small group, it doesn’t make a difference. Nothing can go wrong with such good music, ambience and drinks. Didn’t get to try out their pizza though cos i was still full from dinner. But lei raved abt them so maybe next time ! she had Sangria which yours truly recommended and it was good that she liked it =D Seemed better than the one i had at Wala too.

Just when i was thinking this should be our last stop for the night, she suggested heading over to ChinaOne. Haha looks like somebody haven’t had enough yet, so we made a move again. No objections from me cos i was afterall, quite a nocturnal creature myself.

Things are always happening at ChinaOne for some reason. The last time we went there is this big guy who dances like he’s high on drugs and we can’t stop laughing at him. Lei even took to imitating his dance moves then, hilarious !

This time round, there was a near fight that almost broke out. Really drama. Machiam like shows on tv, people having to hold the angry guy who was waving his fist and looking like he’s gonna plummet the other guy to death. And the other guy acting like he don’t know what wrong. Then in came the BIG bouncer who got them to step out of the dancefloor to settle the issue. Now i finally understand why bouncers have to be that big and menacing.

And then people broke glass and it fell all over the place, i was near but luckily got no cuts from the shattered glass. And guys hitting on us as usual. But the one lei met is the ULTIMATE. This caucasian guy actually lifted her up and swing her ard for a bit ! I was like omg dunnoe whether to laugh or exclaim. Becos it really looked a little funny and silly haha. Though i’m sure lei is super shocked.

And surprise surprise ! I actually met wen, nayling and their friends at ChinaOne. What a coincidence huh, or should i say sg is really small haha. But they left earlier so didn’t get to witness any of the drama mentioned above.

Aahhh the funny things that happen at ChinaOne. I wonder what would happen next time. Anyway before getting on the cab, we saw this drunk guy lying on the ground beside the road, and he was yelling from time to time. It’s scary but we felt kindda sorry for him. Quite a poor thing, wonder where his friends are. We got on the cab since there was nothing much we can do/dare to help. And that concludes our night. More nights out !!

—————————————————————————————————————————————

27th was spent at mh’s christmas chalet. And instead of playing ‘orientation-style’ games like she wanted us to, we hide in the room to play board games among ourselves haha.

Well, it would be the last time the 4 of us gather until the later half of 2009. With sh and mh going on exchange for both earlier half of the year, our clique will only be left with pw and me. And since pw wld be busy with work and bf, i guess, that’s me left haha. Hope the girls would enjoy their exchange tremendously, just like i did during HK summer sch.

Seems like many ppl wld be going away next sem, for exchange, for attachment, for internship(in sg)…just not having the usual mugging sem. Honestly, i am really envious of them. Esp since i have been through summer sch. Those unforgettable days.

Sigh, i’ll miss friends who are going away.

On top of that, i just recalled that next sem wld be the graduating sem for many friends too =( Soon, i won’t be able to see much familiar faces in sch anymore. But it’s inevitable lar i know, people will go their own way eventually and pursue what they want. And it is different for everybody.

When people say ’stay in contact’, do they really mean it or is it just a phase everybody says out of habit ? Say it like you mean it. Say it only if you mean it.

————————————————————————————————————————————-

This is such a long post but i’m still going on. On a side note, i enjoyed the scrumptious homely dinner on 30th, it was good =D I love you all.

My reflection on 2008 is going to be short, and my resolution for 2009 will be simple.

It has been a rough year for me. For the first time in my life, i experienced the heart-wrenching pain of betrayal and loss. It wasn’t easy, waiting for half a year and being terribly upset for the later half. But i think it made me a stronger person. it made me realise things. it made me learn.

My grades haven’t been good this year, and as a matter of fact, they keep dipping. This will not do esp when i am going to embark on the honours track. Is it a lack of focus, a lack of hardwork ? Whatever it is, this must not go on.

The best thing about this year, is that i realise that are many people who still loves me. who still cares a lot about how i feel. who loves me for me. that’s the most impt thing. and that’s enough, really =)

The CUHK summer sch is also a great experience, a blessing in disguise. I’m really, really glad that i went for it. Those are truly unforgettable memories, perhaps the highlight of my uni days when i look back someday.

Come 2009, i only have a simple resolution. That is to be a happier person and make more people happy. Love more. Hate less.

What a night

Filed under: Clubbing, Pms monster, wtf — by lolapop @ 2:21 am

Alright, i have NOT done anything productive over the weekend. A whole day out on saturday was spent on shopping and “chilling out”. Ok we didn’t end up chilling out, so i’ll talk about what we did instead.

Our first destination was actually Dempsey but after exploring the place for a while we kindda found it too quiet, too peaceful, too POSH. haha, poor students like us can’t even afford to step in. There was a live singer at Ben & Jerry’s but we cldn’t even get a seat cos it was full house ! Conclusion: Good place for dates, not good for having fun.

So we ended up heading towards Clark quay. Stopped by Tcc to grab a bite first cos we were both HUNGRY. Looks like skipping dinner didn’t work out cos i had a sandwich there at 12am. AND the stupid waitress tried to trick us into paying more for iced water. All i did was ask for iced water and she asked whether we prefer mineral or sparkling water. So i was like huh, since when do we have a choice of iced water, aren’t they just tap water with a few piece of lemon inside ?

Note that i did ask her whether we have to pay for the iced water and she didn’t answer my question. All she did say was they have two choices of water for their customers, mineral or sparkling. So fine we chose sparkling, with much doubt. Then when the water was served, they came in glass bottle and glasses with a piece of lemon wedge. So i was thinking, this is damm weird. All the customers ard were having the normal iced water with no frills and there we were having such premium water for free ?? So i didn’t touch it and we checked with the waitress again. Once again she was giving irrelevant comments and all i wanted to know was do we need to PAY for them. And finally she said YES. so i asked her to take it back.

stupid woman.

Not to mention there were two girls beside us who took the longest time to decide (ok one of them) her drink. That’s ok you say. But she actually got the waiter to explain the different drinks to her and said brainless things like “i don’t want the drink to keep me awake…” or whatever shit. It went on for quite a while, with different waiter coming to take order and she kept putting it off. *rolls eyes* Why are there such irritating people ard ?

Anyway, on a more positive note, all these didn’t spoil our mood for the night ahead. heh heh. So, our chilling out end up with us clubbing at chinaone. Haha…but the music is so good you can club without drinks lols. They have a fabulous live band which absolutely drives the crowd wild. And no cover ! How perfect. The only thing was that the dancefloor was small and we had to keep guarding our bags.

OH to digress a little, i didn’t now MOS is closed now ! Wonder what happened to the club. But i don’t really care. so forget it lols.

This guy at Chinaone totally made us laugh our heads off. He dances like he’s high on drugs and his movements are just super hilarious. I can’t even describe it in words. There were many expats around too and some went really crazy. Waving/throwing slippers in the air, carrying people up and all. Kindda reminds me of the mexicans back at CUHK. The wild, wild scene at the bus stop late at night. I guess it’s in their culture.

There was mr old expat who tried to hit on lei. There was mr nice who helped us take a photo and kept a look out for our bags. There was mr friendly who asked if he could join us for a while. There was mr sneaky who tried to touch me but i swipe his dirty hand away. Mr friendly later offered to get his friend to drive us back. And by then, lei’s aldry seh. Of course that invitation was turned down with a smile. There’s always the trusty cab.

What a night. Chinaone’s a place worth going back to though. With more people, that is.

Sunday, was simply spent slacking and slacking away. family dinner and went to walk ard a bit at bukit panjang plaza. Bro’s leaving for China tml, for one and a half months. Reminds me of HK summer sch, just that they don’t have as much freedom haha. Think i’ll miss his noisy banter though.

Alrite, i’m off now ! Two 21st coming up soon, and both are my dear friends. Hope the parties would turn out good. Been pmsy of late and every little thing seems to irritate me arrgh. Well, blame the hormones. =P Ok more updates later…
